Spitfire Advent Calendar Brings a Week of Festive Cheer to Communities

The first week of the Spitfire Advent Calendar has been a fantastic success, helping to spread seasonal cheer across Daventry, Radcliffe on Trent and Moreton-in-Marsh. With a variety of festive treats and support for local businesses, the initiative has created plenty of feel good moments as the countdown to Christmas continues.

Highlights of the week have included heartwarming Secret Santa nominations, complimentary coffees from independent cafes, handmade wreaths and Christmas books shared with the community, volunteering through litter picking, and donations to charities supporting vulnerable people.

The initiative builds on Spitfire’s longstanding commitment to supporting small businesses through our award-winning Gold Card scheme, which encourages residents across its collections to shop locally and engage with independent businesses.

On Day 7 of the Advent Calendar, donations were made to local charities supporting people experiencing homelessness. Chris Potter, Senior Community & Corporate Engagement Coordinator at Northampton Hope Centre, commented:

Spitfire’s Advent Calendar initiative is an important reminder of the power of giving, especially in a season which can feel especially difficult for people. We’re grateful for their support, which helps Northampton Hope Centre continue caring for people facing homelessness through the winter months.”

It’s been fantastic to see the Advent Calendar come to life and feel the spirit that makes our communities great places to live. Our aim when launching the initiative was simple – to support local businesses and charities and bring locals together.
