With extensive experience across the residential property sector, we take a collaborative and proactive approach to identifying opportunities, unlocking potential and delivering high-quality homes throughout the Midlands region.

RICHARD MILLER

LAND AND PLANNING DIRECTOR

Richard has nearly 30 years of experience in residential development and land acquisition across the Midlands. A graduate of Nottingham Trent University with a BSc (Hons) in Residential Development, he has worked across both PLC and SME housebuilders, delivering projects ranging from bespoke residential schemes through to strategic urban extensions of more than 1,000 homes.

Since joining Spitfire Homes in 2021, he has led a multi-disciplinary team responsible for land acquisition, planning and design, helping to shape the company’s continued growth and long-term development strategy.

SOPHIE SMITH

SENIOR LAND MANAGER

With over 12 years of experience within the residential development sector, Sophie plays an role in both immediate and strategic land delivery at Spitfire Homes. Having worked across both the South West and West Midlands regions prior to joining the business in 2019, she brings extensive knowledge of the wider Spitfire geographical area.

Sophie has successfully secured sites for both of Spitfire’s product ranges, contributing to several of the company’s largest acquisitions, including developments in Moreton-in-Marsh, Radcliffe on Trent, and Bishop’s Cleeve. Her experience also includes the acquisition of complex brownfield opportunities, navigating technical, legal and viability challenges to unlock high-quality residential developments, including schemes at the former Harborne Police Station and Sandvik Coromant offices in Halesowen.

LEWIS PLATT

SENIOR LAND MANAGER

Lewis brings over 12 years of experience across land acquisition and residential development, with a strong background spanning both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining Spitfire Homes, he spent more than five years at one of the UK’s largest volume housebuilders and also gained valuable public sector experience working for a leading registered provider.

Since joining Spitfire Homes in 2023, Lewis has played a key role in identifying and securing development opportunities across the Midlands. His expertise includes immediate and strategic land acquisition, partnership-led developments and affordable housing delivery, with experience spanning brownfield and greenfield sites, option agreements and mixed-tenure schemes.

ORLA McGURRAN

LAND MANAGER

Orla joined Spitfire Homes in 2025 and brings a strong foundation in residential development, underpinned by an MSc (Hons) in Real Estate from the University of Estate Management, graduating in 2023.

Prior to joining Spitfire, Orla spent five years at Vistry, including two years on a structured graduate scheme followed by three years within the Land team. This experience provided exposure to a wide range of development contexts, from early-stage site identification through to detailed land negotiations and acquisition.

Her expertise spans partnership working with Registered Providers and Private Rental Partners, alongside the acquisition of immediate land opportunities across both brownfield and greenfield sites. Orla also has experience engaging with the public sector, including Homes England and local authorities.
